Monterrey, Mexico, Medical Team Update, Saturday, November 7, 2009

Hello friends, it took us a while to get an internet connection, so here it is Friday night, and we are into our third day! We arrived midday on Wednesday, and spent the afternoon sorting prescription items and getting acquainted. Wednesday night we had dinner at a restaurant El Arruchero, that had delicious Mexican food...with an American Indian decor. Yesterday we arrived at the clinic/church around 9am and set up our rooms. We were able to begin seeing patients by 10. We served 100 people. Many saw a doctor, dentist, optometrist and pharmacist. We are seeing all ages. Today was a busier day. We think we saw around 200 people today...but we are all too tired to count the sheets of paper. Again, many saw all 4 groups. The youngest we saw was four days old, and the oldest age I saw on paper was 78. We served in Emilio Zapata community the past 2 days, and tomorrow we go to Rinconada, which is a lower income area. We have wonderful interpreters, and people who volunteer in many capacities. We are making relationships as well as providing services. We are having our second night of devotions tonight, with a focus on healing and wholeness. Our interpreter, Maricarmen, encouraged us tonight to remember that not only are we serving the bodies, but we have an eternal purpose as well. Our team is having such a good time together. All is well...in fact, glory to God, all is wonderful!
